With involvement of students from ENSEEIHT (with the research means and support of the school), AETS assisted a local water basin management authority to perform a preliminary study in the Ousse river basin and to propose infrastructure improvements. The purpose of this study was to provide integrated water management solutions to reduce flooding impacts of the River Ousse on the city of Idron. The study of areas at risk was performed and preventive measures were analysed, taking into account the current legal framework in force. These measures included:
-
Retention and storage reservoirs and their working regimes (including modelling and feasibility studies)
-
Local and individual hydraulic civil works
-
Proposition of organisation for the related administrative services (institutional strengthening), working of hydraulic infrastructures and flooding crisis management (including work plans)
-
Teleprocessing equipment, GIS (design and supply)
-
Environmental Impact Assessment (land property, landscape, terrestrial fauna, aquatic life, population, infrastructures)
-
Propositions of ecological projects (preservation, restoration or implantation of streamside vegetation)
-
Protection measures of river banks against erosion, urban Hydrological study of the city rain water network, modelling of retention reservoirs connection to the network
-
Impacts of flooding and network on the river.
The students worked on the study while AETS followed-up and managed the study progress as well as the group of students. The local authority used this study to launch tenders in the domains of hydraulic infrastructures and environment protection.
